Doctor Rachel Thomas has finally reached her goal of becoming a plastic surgeon, but it’s far from what she had imagined. So is her love life.
That’s all about to change. When Rachel’s natural gift for sculpting a woman’s dream body is discovered by a TV producer, her life becomes sensational, as she is suddenly the star of a hit reality show, “Lipo Queen.”
Which would be amazing if anything about her fabulous on-screen life were true, particularly the part with her new gorgeous—and famous—“boyfriend.” But this life has all been fabricated by her producers, and none of it fits in with the real life that she can’t leave behind. She struggles to keep a shameful family secret from the public eye, and learns that she is being rejected by her colleagues. The worst part is that in spite of herself she is falling for her fake boyfriend, who she’s sure—in real reality—is way out of her league.
As if the hit show “Unreal” were placed in the plastic surgery world of the iconic “Nip/Tuck,” Lipo Queen explores what happens when boundaries between reality and fiction become indistinct, and who suffers the consequences.

Scintilating read--as in my SIN was I couldn't put LIPO QUEEN down and let everything go because. like Dr. Rey, I had to finish it in one sitting. To call LIPO QUEEN a "beach read" sells this marvelous novel short. Suzanne Edmonds' medical knowledge is fascinating (of course she's a surgeon in real life) for starters and her skill and adroitness in telling Rachel's story is without parallel. The book is beautifully written, words slide like satin across the page in a mix of literary skill, power and wit. Edmonds makes us smile even when we feel a little bad for doing so because Rachel's really going through it, and laugh out loud at other times. Edmonds' also choked me up (but I shan't spoil the story by telling you why). This is a must read, and I'll do it again. It's that way with fabulous art. Going through it once is so pleasurable we want to repeat the experience. Brava Suzanne Edmonds.Product details

Lipo Queen a novel eBook Suzanne Edmonds Reviews
If you like the Lifetime show Unreal, you have to read Lipo Queen. Unreal is maybe more lurid and titillating. Lipo Queen more witty, smart and sometimes poignant. If you like reading one ya gotta watch the other. Or vice versa.
And another thing... How is it that this woman is a hot s#&t surgeon AND a fantastic writer??! How is it that God put all that together in one package? (I'm talkin' about the author/plastic surgeon) The story has the kind of depth that makes you want to read it again, not just to catch the nuances you might have missed the first time, but also because you can't bring yourself to say goodbye to Rachel Thomas, MD, your new BFF.
The author touches on themes reminiscent of Bradbury’s concerns in Fahrenheit 451, but with a modern twist. The obsession with technology was frightening then, like the connection to reality TV world and selfies are now. The thematic statements that it “doesn’t matter what you do... so long as you can change something from the way it was before you touched it into something that’s like you after you take your hands away” (Bradbury F451) matches the idea that Rachel’s (main character) handiwork, both on the show and in her O.R. may not be there forever, but the message she sends to her patients – both on and off the show – will be there for a lifetime. “On a routine basis we make huge incisions on perfectly healthy people who think they’re going to heal without any scars.”
Even with all of the medical jargon, Edmond’s lets readers feel connected to the content. It isn’t just quick skimming of a text, but the diction let’s readers see the insides of the surgery industry. Also, Suzanne Edmond’s allows readers to get a glimpse of women in the surgical field, it makes that untapped society and male domination take a back seat to the inner challenges women face in order to stand powerful in their industries. The women’s relationships in the text show so many complexities. There are the superficial relationships, the kind-hearted, the “I’ve got your back” friendships, and the competitions – yet, they are all effective and accurate.
Generally, I don't like fiction books, so this was out of my comfort zone.
But I completely and thoroughly loved this book!
I loved Dr. Rachel Thomas and Devin Breeze. I fell in love with both characters, and I was rooting for them from the start.
The author is an exceptionally fun and exciting writer. This book is well written and very enjoyable.
Thank you for a great book!
What an amazing read! I could have pulled an all nighter if I didn't have to get up for work. The characters are so relatable and the story line is so very entertaining. I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed!!!
I really enjoyed reading this fun novel. It is well written and interesting. I highly recommend read Lipo Queen.
I loved this book from start to finish! Gives you an inside peek into "reality" shows and the going-ons in Beverly Hills. I hope there is another book in the works!
This is a truly great and entertaining book. I don't normally read books in this genre. I came across the book in a doctors office and found the first few chapters extremely entertaining and engaging. I was able to relate to the characters and enjoyed the unvarnished discussion of what happens behind the scenes in plastic surgery. I would recommend this book to everyone!!! I am looking forward to the audiobook and can't wait to listen/read the story again.
